Pokemon Unite's preload on the Nintendo Switch is unlocked but the game will not allow you to play until 3 AM EST or 7 UTC. If it is that time then that means that the servers are most likely down since this is an online only game.
Just because the release time has been reached does not mean Nintendo's servers can handle the amount of players going online at the start.
