On Independence Day we got behind the wheel of the Mahindra XUV700 2021 and tested it on the brand-new Mahindra SUV Proving Track. And our clear verdict is that this is the new mid-size 7-seat SUV benchmark. With a 200 horsepower turbo-petrol engine capable of 200kmph top speed and 0-100kmph in less than 10 seconds this is great fun to drive. We also drove the 2.2-litre diesel which can also do 0-100kmph in less than 10 seconds and has a top speed of 192kmph. Benchmarked against German SUVs from a segment above the Mahindra XUV 700 has a claimed best-in-class torsional stiffness, generation 2 FSD dampers and control blade rear suspension for excellent ride and handling. With a Mercedes-like infotainment screen and digital cockpit along with huge connectivity options the XUV700 also has a best-in-class cabin. It also has all-wheel-drive on the diesel-automatic.
