EU will 'remove sovereign powers' of members as Brexiteer issues European superstate alert

THE European Union will not stop until it has removed all "sovereign powers" from its members amid its plans to create a European superstate, an MP has warned

Speaking to Express.co.uk, one Tory MP praised Brexit for saving the UK from the long-spoken idea of an EU superstate. According to Marco Longhi, MP for Dudley North, Brussels ultimately wants to remove the sovereign powers of its 27 member states. Eventually, the Tory MP claimed each member will soon become a "vassal state" to the EU project.
It is due to these plans the UK eventually decided to separate itself from the EU project, Mr Longhi claimed
While the UK attempted to be a reliable ally as part of the EU, the MP insisted Britain always had the desire to be the master of its own destiny.

Mr Longhi said: "I think it's been planned for a while.

"I think it's been known in wider circles that this has been the plan among EU members, particularly certain EU members and the Commission.
"I mean, Guy Verhofstadt has been quite open about that in a number of his speeches.

"They want to ultimately remove what sovereign powers each individual member state has.

"If you like, even though each state would then be identified by the name, they become a vassal state to this superpower, with all their powers centralised in Brussels and Strasburg.

"And hence the reason for every bit of legislation that's been coming out has been pulling individual member states in that direction.

And why increasingly so, over many, many years, the United Kingdom has felt increasingly uncomfortable with that process, because its natural instinct for the United Kingdom is to be a good partner, but to also be master of its own destiny, with its own democracy, which is accountable to each and every single voter. "

Earlier this month, Leigh Evans, editor-in-chief of Facts4EU argued the bloc has "seized power by patience and stealth" in think-tank's new report.

Also speaking to Express.co.uk, he said: "The history of the EU from its beginnings as the ‘European Economic Community' or EEC/Common Market has been one of mission creep.

"Theirs was always a project to absorb member countries into one superstate, as they made clear from the start when they talked of ‘ever closer union

The report also highlights warnings made to former Prime Minister Edward Heath over the EU's intention to eventually create a super-state.

Mr Evans added: "The basic facts of Mr Heath’s duplicity are not up for debate as the Cabinet papers were all released 30 years later.

“It’s now a matter of public record, as we detail in our report.

“All we’ve done is to highlight some of the major steps the EU has been taking along the road to the creation of this superstate, run by an undemocratic and inefficient bureaucracy, controlling vast swathes of the continent, and centralised in Brussels.”

French President Emmanuel Macron has long called for greater EU integration and had proposed plans for a European army.

Just this year, MEPs accused Brussels of seeking to "undermine nation-state democracies" after the launch of the Conference on the Future of Europe.

Leaders from the EU Parliament’s European Conservatives and Reformists (ECR) group have voiced concerns over the year-long initiative to interact more closely with voters.

It was launched by arch-federalist MEP Guy Verhofstadt, Croatian commissioner Dubravka Suica and Portuguese minister Ana Paula Zacarias.
