There's a theory out there that FDR knew about the coming attack at Pearl Harbor but let it happen anyways. One example I often see cited is that the carriers weren't at Pearl, suggesting those were 'saved'. At the time there were three carriers in the Pacific Fleet, the Saratoga, the Lexington and the Enterprise. If not at Pearl Harbor on December 7th, 1941, where were they?
