The holy grail, the illusive, the legendary... The most sought after unreleased ABBA track.
Recorded in 1982 at Polar Studios it was one of the last songs recorded by ABBA before their almost 40 year long break and it remains unreleased officially until this day, except for a snippet released as part of the Undeleted Medley on the Thank You For The Music box set released in 1994.
And now with the official release of Just A Notion, also originally unreleased but now officially released as a single off ABBA's new album Voyage, fans have been asking why not release Just Like That instead?
Most recently in an interview Benny was asked why they never released it and still don't want to he replied "We never really liked it."
Along with many excuses like "the verse and the chorus don't fit together," "parts of it have been used in other songs" and "it was officially released by Gemini in 1985" it remains in the vaults and will remain that way it seems, forever.
But something happened in 1983 which had the unfinished song unofficially released to the world. Björn's car was broken into and tapes containing some songs they were working on was stolen. From there the songs of which a few versions of Just Like That was distributed between fans and ended up on various bootleg albums. The quality of these versions are really bad, but still the fans listened.
This version is from the bootleg CD We Owed You One released by Mistral Music in the 90s and is the best quality version available. Willie tried his best to remaster that version to make it sound as good as possible. And even though it isn't the ultimate version known to fans as the "Sax Version" it is a good example of what the song sounded like.
Our friends Groenalund were granted permission by Universal Music to record and release their version of Just Like That.
