Does Reporting a claim directly to your insurance company ensure the best results?

According to Florida Peninsula Insurance Company aka "Florida Pen", reporting a claim directly to your carrier ensures the best results.

But does it?

This was a blog article that was brought to my attention but I couldn't help but laugh at the article.

In the beginning, they come right out and tell you that wear & tear is not covered and some losses under the policy may not be covered. They are essentially telling you the following:

1) Any type of home claim or home insurance claim they have a right to use "wear and tear" to deny coverage

2) Your roof which is damaged to a storm is old along with "wear and tear"

3) The water damage claim where there was a crack in the pipe or water line break won't be covered because the pipe and/or water line was "wear and tear"

After all that, they then say, but don't worry report the claim to us, communicate with our adjusters, and negotiate a settlement. Sounds really easy right??
Guess again!
