Wisdom For Life Show 43 | Getting Caught In The Gaze | Dan Hayes & Greg Sadler

Here's the recording of the forty-third episode of the Wisdom for Life radio show, hosted on Riverwest Radio (WXRW 104.1 FM Milwaukee) by myself and my co-host Dan Hayes. During COVID times, the show airs Saturdays 4-5 PM Central Time. In normal times, we broadcast live every other Friday, 5-6 PM Central Time, and stream live over the internet.

In this forty-third episode of the Wisdom for Life radio show, hosts Dan Hayes and Greg Sadler discuss the phenomenon that gets called “the gaze” or “the look” (le regard, in French), starting with Jean-Paul Sartre’s famous analysis of it, and the examples he provides in Being and Nothingness. They then discuss the notion of the “panopticon” and how it figures into the “surveillance society”, and then examine gender and power-relations in the “male gaze”.

Intro and outro music is from an original track created just for Wisdom for Life by musician and guitar professor (Berkelee School of Music), Scott Tarulli. Here's his page - check him out! https://www.scotttarulli.com/
