Review: Another Orchestration of Pictures at an Exhibition--Then Comes the Good Part

Peter Breiner's orchestration for Naxos of Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition doesn't hold a candle to Ravel's, and his conducting is glacially slow, but these purely orchestral arrangements of two magnificent song-cycles--Songs and Dances of Death and The Nursery--are simply marvelous, and worth the price of the disc.
