
Dogs can sometimes learn to keep toys or objects away. They may run off with an item or avoid the person altogether by hiding. This can be an issue if you are wanting to play with your dog or teach them to interact with you. To prevent this problem, we have to think about what the interactions that we have with our dogs mean to them. However, a number of training techniques can be of help. In this video, I review the importance of swapping objects for a treat and relying on management as a strategy to avoid accidentally teaching your dog to keep items away.
