When you should worry about your toddler’s speech delay. I did my research so you don’t have to.
So your toddler just reached 2 years old and he/she hasn’t spoken a word. There is good news and bad news. First, let me just say that I’m not a doctor or an expert and what I’m about to share is based on personal research and experiences. If you are concerned about your child, consult your doctor immediately and they’ll be able to answer any questions you may have.
The good news is that speech delay can be fixed. you won’t know if your child has a problem until they’re 3 or 4 so it’s best to wait and see how your child progresses before you start worrying. I heard personal stories from different parents. My aunt told me that my cousin hasn’t started talking until he was 3 and he’s a nurse now. I heard that one child started talking at the age of 4 and he turned out very intelligent. Speech delay has nothing to do with intelligence but there are a few factors that contribute to that. The bad news is that if he reached 3 or 4 and they are still having trouble expressing themselves, you should be concerned. That’s why it’s best to consult your doctor as early as possible, before their 3rd birthday. They’ll be able to recommend a speech therapist as early as possible so they don’t struggle later in life.
